Yesterday, my husband and I were standing in the hallway of a soccer club talking to the father of one of our youngest son’s teammates.
During this conversation, we talked about our sons, my eldest son and that father’s youngest son, who both like to wear earrings but didn’t dare to actually pierce their earlobes.
And how nice it is that there is the option of wearing magnetic earrings.
The father began to explain that he used to like wearing jewellery in the past, but since his conversion he has become a little more modest and now only wears his wedding ring.
Curious as I am, I asked him what he had converted to.
He replied wholeheartedly and boldly: Simply Christianity!
I thought the way this man responded was wonderful. Such boldness! Just wonderful.
We live in a country where Christianity is no longer at the center of society. Many people have turned away from faith because of the behavior of other so-called believers and because of the pain caused in the church.
We live in a multicultural country with people of different religious beliefs.
In fact, all chicken meat sold in the Netherlands is slaughtered according to Islamic standards. ALL chicken meat!
My nephew, who was a primary school pupil at the time, had salami on his sandwich one day and half the class told him that it was haram and that he couldn’t eat a sandwich with pork on it in class because it went against the beliefs of a number of pupils.
I could give you lots more examples like this!
This incident with this father makes me proud!
First of all, I am proud of what Jesus has done for me.
I am proud that this father speaks so wholeheartedly and boldly about Jesus.
I am proud that our Christian family is continuing to grow and that more people are learning the Truth!
A large part of our society is starving for the Truth, and thank you, Jesus, that they are discovering it!
