It’s okay not to be okay

Yes, you’re reading the title accurately!

It’s okay not to be okay…

As Christians, we often think that we and everything we do must be perfect, but of course that doesn’t match reality. We as humans are not perfect; only Jesus is. But because we strive to be like Jesus, we think we’re not allowed to have any “flaws.”

In doing so, we’re not only selling ourselves short, but also what Jesus accomplished for us on the cross. He went to the cross for us to take our imperfections and sins upon Himself.

Church culture also contributes to this. Many will tell you that it’s not okay to face setbacks or go through difficult situations.

On the one hand, they’re right, because it’s a fact that Jesus has accomplished everything for us and has secured the Kingdom of our Father for us! Illness, among other things, is not meant for us, because it has been accomplished.

This does not mean, however, that the enemy does not shoot fiery arrows at us. We both know that he roams about like a roaring lion. (A lion without teeth.)

He is, in fact, looking for a single open crack to get in; his goal is to plant a negative seed in the hope that it will grow into a large thistle.

In the world, we deal with people, and not all people are pure of heart; some are vessels for the enemy, so circumstances can arise.

What we need to realize is that it is, of course, never okay to be attacked, especially not after what Jesus has accomplished for us. However, there may be situations where we are not on guard and do not see the arrows being fired at us.

What we can do, though, is when we reach a point where we no longer see “it”—and by “it” I mean the solution—to knock on Papa God’s door. We can lay our concerns on His altar, and He will work them out for good. And we know that for those who love God, all things work together for good, for those who are called according to His purpose. Romans 8:28

Not only does He work the situation out for good, He also provides us with rest. Come to Me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Matthew 11:28

If we don’t give Him room to do His “thing,” then we’ll never be able to testify about His goodness and glory!

So the next time you’re not okay, don’t worry—focus your concerns on Him, and He will provide.

Love,

Alicia
