Press Through

As a sick child with cancer, I did not always have the energy to fully commit to tasks and was very often uncommitted to completing them.
Of course, what was perhaps even natural is that I received quite a bit of understanding from my parents for this.
Understanding is in fact exactly what every child needs and wants.

However, this has had a very negative effect on me.
From childhood I have had the habit of starting tasks, studies, jobs, diy projects, et cetera, and aborting them prematurely.
The abandoning began in this form: as soon as a task became too difficult or as soon as I didn’t like the atmosphere, I withdrew myself from the situation. This resulted in me having a lot of unfinished projects to my name.
Sometimes the reason for quitting had nothing to do with the project I was working on at the time, any kind of setback I experienced could contribute to me quitting my projects.
This went on for years in my life. I started a project and as soon as I got into my emotion I gave up.

We can sugarcoat it, but ending your project prematurely is synonymous with giving up!
In this way, a quitters mentality was instilled in me.
I mentioned earlier that the main reason for giving up was going into emotional mode. My emotions have dominated my life for many years. My emotions set the course and the momentum of my life.

The moment I gave my life to Jesus, Papa God immediately began to work on this quitters mentality. He showed me that it is okay to withdraw from a situation or project if it does not honor The Kingdom.
He also showed me the effect the quitter mentality has on me as a person and on my credibility.

But perhaps what was most importantly for me to learn is that you don’t have to start every project right away. You get an idea from Papa and ask Him for wisdom about the project and ask Him for the start time and a timeline. Sometimes Papa gives us ideas that need to be implemented at another later time. He gives us the idea in time so that we can go into rest and work out the details so that when the time comes to execute the project we are well prepared.
Often we tend to start projects because Papa has provided us with an idea but no additional details. Because we do not trust his perfect timing, we start the project prematurely, on our own, with the outcome that the project does not turn out the way Papa envisioned for us. This constitutes a disappointment that I myself have fallen prey to several times.

Therefore, I hereby encourage you:
In your work, trust in the LORD, and your plans will succeed. Proverbs 16:3
and
For everything there is an appointed time, and there is a time for every intention under heaven. Ecclesiastes 3:1
and
For the revelation awaits an appointed time; it speaks of the end and will not prove false. Though it linger, wait for it; it[a] will certainly come and will not delay. Habakkuk 2:3.
